Reports To: Shop Foreman
Schedule: Typically, Mon - Fri 6:00a - 3:00p. Varies based on demands. Some night and weekend work required.
POSITION SUMMARY
Safely and efficiently maintain, diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as trucks, cranes, excavators, graders, and trailers, used in construction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to drive service truck.
  • Operate various tools and machinery required for the position
  • Collects, logs and ship samples as required during scheduled service.
  • Coordinates activities with supervisors daily.
  • Inspects and records each machine for deficiencies, necessary services, or safety concerns.
  • Repairing / replacing damaged equipment and parts.
  • Welding and repairing
  • Cleaning, lubricating and conducting routine services on various trucks, light duty and heavy duty equipment.
  • Comply with company policies.
  • Establish safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards and company safety program.
  • Comply with federal, state and company environmental policies.
  • Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions. Operates machinery to verify repair.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of two years diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Current CL R Driver’s License, with acceptable driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITIES
  • Position requires employee to frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, handle objects, reach outward, and reach above head and shoulders, climb, descend, squat, kneel, bend, crawl and occasionally lift carry/push/pull/move/drag on flat ground or steep slopes up to 75 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is outdoors and indoors. Working conditions have a range of temperatures, and frequently exposed to loud noise from heavy equipment and machinery.  Using cleaners, solvents, lubricants, grease, fuels, paints and various other chemicals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
  • Strong knowledge base in diagnosing and repairing various machinery and trucks used in construction.
  • Ability to read and understand manuals, schematics, diagrams as related to machinery and equipment.
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry heavy objects (75+ pounds), walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Education, Training and Experience
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
  • CL R License with acceptable driving record
Special Requirements
Must be able to pass alcohol and controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.
