Estimator-Heavy Civil-Roads & Bridges

This position supports Jalisco’s project pursuits by preparing detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for complex roadway and bridge projects. You’ll collaborate across teams, evaluate project risks, and manage preconstruction efforts from takeoff through bid submission. This position requires the candidate to be motivated and organized. Candidate will be responsible for creating detailed estimates and technical proposals, assessing risks, and identifying opportunities to succeed in competitive bidding environments. This role requires experience with Road and Bridge projects including structures, earthwork, concrete pavement, flatwork and storm sewer. Duties involve project discovery and assessment, performing site evaluations, and ensuring accurate project pricing through meticulous review of specifications and drawings. The position requires effective management of subcontractor contributions. Tasks include maintaining a comprehensive vendor database, overseeing bid document distribution, and ensuring thorough bid coverage and closure. Strong ability to support conceptual estimate development, risk and fee analysis, proposal crafting, and bid transition to operations.

Key Responsibilities
* Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for scopes such as structures, earthwork, paving, flatwork & concrete.

* Analyze project plans, specifications, and proposals to develop comprehensive cost estimates

* Coordinate subcontractor and supplier outreach; solicit and evaluate quotes; ensure DBE participation goals are met

* Maintain and organize bid documentation, vendor and subcontractor databases

* Develop and maintain bid schedules; ensure timelines and deliverables are met

* Support conceptual estimating, fee analysis, and proposal preparation

* Participate in internal project turn-over meetings to support transition from preconstruction to operations

* Stay informed on DOT bid lettings, local opportunities, and industry trends

Requirements

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience estimating
  • Previous road and bridge experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from managers.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles, practices, and techniques
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and other technical documents
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean MVR
